4th Malaria Annual Health Colloquium Concludes with Resounding Success

The 4th Malaria Annual Health Colloquium has come to a close, leaving an indelible mark on the fight against malaria in Rivers State, Nigeria. Held on May 1, 2025, at the prestigious Vineyard Event Center, 88 Woji Road, GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt, the event brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss innovative strategies for malaria control and elimination.

With the theme "Innovation to Eliminate: New Strategies for Malaria Control and Elimination in Rivers State, Nigeria," the colloquium provided a platform for experts to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the fight against malaria. The keynote lecture, delivered by Prof. Kenneth S. Ordu, Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Rivers State University, set the tone for the event, highlighting the need for innovative approaches to malaria control and elimination.

The Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, represented by Dr. Cookie-Gam, Director of Health Services, sent a goodwill message and congratulated the organizers on a successful event. Dr. Cookie-Gam's speech emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership in the fight against malaria.

The colloquium featured engaging panel sessions, moderated by Dr. Aniekan Affia and Dr. Tamuno Opubo Abiye, which sparked lively discussions and debates among participants. NEMEL Pharmaceuticals Nigerian Limited also made a product presentation, showcasing their commitment to providing innovative solutions for malaria control.

The event was co-hosted by prominent healthcare organizations, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, led by Pharm. Promise Anele Enyi; the Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State Chapter, led by Dr. Tamunokuro Diamond; the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, UPTH Chapter, led by Sct. Ngowari Jeremiah; and the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme, led by Dr. Vetty Agala, who also served as a panelist.
