Hepatitis B Awareness Campaign and Free Medical Outreach

Hepatitis B Awareness Campaign and Free Medical Outreach

On December 5th, 2024, the Rivers University played host to a groundbreaking event: the Hepatitis B Awareness Campaign and Free Medical Outreach. This momentous occasion was facilitated by the Erens Ekprikpo Health Foundation and the Center for Population Health Initiative, and graciously hosted by Engr. Okeinaye Briggs.

The event was a testament to the power of collective action in promoting public health and wellbeing. Over 300 beneficiaries from the university community and beyond gathered to take advantage of the comprehensive range of free medical services on offer. These included screenings for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and malaria, as well as BMI checking and Hepatitis B vaccination.

A pivotal aspect of the event was the Health Talk and Advocacy session, where the importance of Hepatitis B Birth Dose administration was highlighted and strongly advocated for. This critical intervention has the potential to save countless lives and prevent needless suffering.

In addition to the medical services, the event also featured the distribution of condoms and other Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. This thoughtful gesture underscored the EEHF's commitment to promoting holistic health and wellbeing.

The success of this event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Erens Ekprikpo Health Foundation, the Center for Population Health Initiative, and Engr. Okeinaye Briggs. We salute the tireless efforts to promote public health and wellbeing, and look forward to their future initiatives.
